History
Computer Generals was formed because we saw a need for a computer manufacturer that provides truly custom systems at prices
competitive with other high performance system builders. We developed a line of systems that covers our suggested choices
of possible configurations for gaming computers, but there are numerous other possibilities. Because of the variety and complexities
of alternate configurations, we want to consult with the customer before we develop their specific system. Prior to forming
this company, we provided custom PCs and servers under various government and private industry contracts dating back as much
as 30 years. Three of our principal engineers have over 30 years extensive experience in the computer industry. We worked
with PCs when they were called micro-computers and were programmed by flipping switches on the front panel.
Component Selection
Component selection is extremely important in high performance PCs. Generally, there are three types of components available
on the market. First is fully capable, fully tested Retail versions of the components. The second is commonly called Original
Equipment Manufacturer or OEM. These are not all individually tested. They are examined statistically and, as a result, generally
configured to operate at below the design performance of the retail versions. The third category that we like to separate
from OEM parts are the components specially built for the huge mass producers. These parts are designed specifically to reduce
manufacturing cost and are produced and tested the same way as OEM components. Because of the special design effort to reduce
cost, units assembled from this last category is very difficult to upgrade, and if done, require purchase from the original
manufacturer only.
